Why Your Scheduler Stopped Posting to Facebook Groups

By Justin, founder of Grovo · October 27, 2026 · 4 min read

If your scheduler used to post into Facebook groups for you and then just stopped, it isn't you, and it isn't a bug. Meta switched it off.

What happened

Meta announced it would remove access to the Facebook Groups API on April 22, 2024 (Ayrshare's write-up). That API is how scheduling tools posted into groups. When it went, so did group posting in those tools. In their own words:

What still works

If you're the admin

Facebook lets admins schedule posts in their own group. Some tools now send you a reminder so you can post by hand. Both are fine, but they only cover groups you run.

If you're a member

This is most of us. The town groups, the buy and sell groups, the business promo groups. For these you either paste the post into each group yourself, or use a tool that posts from your own browser.

That's why I built Grovo the way I did. It doesn't use the Groups API at all. It runs in your Chrome, logged in as you, and posts the way you would, one group at a time with a pause in between. Meta switching off the API didn't touch it, because it never relied on it.

Moving over from a scheduler

  1. Get your group links together. Grovo imports a CSV, or you can paste them in.
  2. Bring your posts across. Add spintax like {Hi|Hello} so each group gets its own wording.
  3. Set each group's rules once. Post days, cut-off time, images, links and how many posts a week. Grovo remembers them.
  4. Press Post Now and keep the Facebook tab open while it runs.

One honest difference: Grovo posts while your Chrome is open, because it posts as you. A server-side scheduler could post at 3am with your laptop closed. For groups you're only a member of, that option no longer exists anywhere.

Three free posts, no card. Works where the schedulers stopped.

FAQ

Why did my scheduler stop posting to Facebook groups?
Meta removed third-party access to the Facebook Groups API on April 22, 2024. Scheduling tools used that API to post into groups, so group posting stopped in tools like Zoho Social and MeetEdgar.
Is there a scheduler that still posts to groups I'm only a member of?
Not one that works on a server through Facebook's API. A browser tool like Grovo posts from your own logged-in Chrome instead, so it still works in groups you're a member of.
Can I schedule posts in a group I admin?
Yes. Facebook lets admins schedule posts in their own group.
Does Grovo need my Facebook password?
No. It runs in your own browser where you're already logged in. Your password is never seen or stored.
